Maggie Colby

Maggie has been working in education for 16 years, following 17 years working in medical research laboratories in universities.

As well as teaching all Key Stages in an East Riding Primary School,  Maggie immediately began working in Health Education as the school’s Health Education Co-ordinator. She worked with the Humberside Health Education Team for 5 years until Humberside Education Authority was dissolved.

She was involved in the East Riding School Improvement Service-Primary PSHCE Group (formerly the Primary Drug Development Team), being a key player in developing a PSHCE curriculum for use in all ER primary schools, was a teacher mentor for Drugs Education, delivering demonstration Drug Education lessons and was a member of the writing team for the ER Healthy Schools Award.

Maggie left the classroom to go into full time Health Education. Since then she has:

  • Worked as a consultant on the Hull Healthy Schools Team.
  • Collaborated with The Fit for Football Team developing healthier packed lunches.
  • Developed Healthy Eating Policy Guidelines for Hull schools.
  • Collaborated with Humberside Alliance Against Tobacco.
  • Worked with FIVE A DAY and Hull City Council to promote healthy eating in schools.
  • Received accreditation in the Certification of Teaching PSHE.
